Time Tracker
You’re guessing your hours. The guess is low.
A time tracker that lives inside DaVinci Resolve. Press Start and edit. It counts every hour on every project and timeline, shows what the job actually paid you per hour, and turns that time into an invoice.
Most editors finish a job, sit down to bill it, and realize they never counted. So they guess. Hourly or flat rate, that guess costs money on every project, and it’s never in your favor.

THE THREE PLACES THE MONEY GOES
1. You forget to count.
Writing hours on a sticky note works for about two days. Then you switch projects, take a call, render overnight, and the number is gone.
Every second also lands on the timeline you had open, so you can see that the main edit took 14 hours and the social cutdowns took 4. It also reads each timeline’s runtime and tells you how many finished minutes of video you make per hour of work. Rename a timeline and its history stays with it.
Thumbnails, reframing, uploads, client calls. Add time logs them with a category and a note, as a block of time at your rate or as a fixed price item like 3 thumbnails at $15. They show in your history, go on the invoice and export with everything else. Any entry, tracked or added, can be corrected afterwards.
Step away and it stops itself, counting time only up to your last action. Come back and it starts again. Playback and rendering count as work, because they are. On the Free Edition you stop sessions yourself.
2. The flat fee looked good until it didn’t.
You quoted $800, it took 40 hours, and you didn’t find out you made $20 an hour until it was over. If you ever found out.
Type in what you quoted and your effective hourly rate updates as you work: fee divided by hours, every second. Set the rate you refuse to work below and a burn bar counts down the hours the fee actually buys, then prices the overrun in dollars when a job runs long. Flat projects invoice the fee, or part of it as a deposit, plus any extras on top.
A live bar graph splits your hours by page: Edit, Color, Fairlight, Deliver and the rest. If grading is eating the margin on a type of job, you will see it before you quote the next one.
Name the client on a project and the Clients view totals hours, billed, unbilled and outstanding across everything you have done for them. Useful the next time you decide whether a client is worth keeping at their rate.
3. The invoice is the part you put off.
The edit is done, the client is waiting, and now you’re rebuilding the job from memory in a spreadsheet.
Press New invoice and it gathers everything on the project you haven’t billed yet: one line per timeline at your rate, any priced extras, tax if you charge it. It writes a clean invoice page you can print or save as a PDF, marks that work as billed, and remembers the invoice. The next invoice only picks up new work. Mark invoices paid as the money comes in and the tracker keeps a running total of what you are still owed, per project and per client.

A wide, low window that tucks under your viewer: timer and money on the left, page graph and your history, timelines, clients and invoices on the right. One click collapses it to a small floating widget with the project name, the timer and Stop. On flat jobs the widget shows your live rate too.
